Boudewijn is a design researcher with a background in product design, industrial ecology, and interaction design research.
He holds a PhD from the Delft University of Technology, where he also worked as a postdoctoral researcher. Currently, he is a senior researcher in the ZonMw project ‘From Prevention to Resilience’, led by the Lectorate of Spatial Urban Transformation and the Lectorate of Civic Interaction Design at the HvA.
Boudewijn has worked in various health- and sustainability-related projects. A common thread in his work is how design skills and actions are central to his research approach. This allows him, and his team, to not only to generate actionable insights for fellow designers and other professionals, but also to apply these insights in the development of appropriate solutions for real-world situations and contexts. Boudewijn considers this way of working as a particular form of ‘Research through Design’, and he enjoys engaging with this topic more generally – he does so as an author, sparring partner and facilitator of workshops and dialogues
