Yulia S. Tikhomirova is an artist, curator, and PhD candidate in the National Doctorate Program in Heritage Science at Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from St. Petersburg State University, a Master’s degree in Digital Media from the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna, and a Master’s degree in Arts, Museology, and Curatorship from the University of Bologna.
Tikhomirova’s research focuses on collective art practices, participatory culture, and hybrid realities, particularly at the intersection of art, technology, and activism. She is a co-founder of TIST–This Is So Temporary, a collective that engages with art and politics in public spaces, fostering a critical approach to digital technologies and exploring the affordances of XR as a tool for community engagement.
She is currently a visiting researcher with the Civic Interaction Design Research Group, from February-September 2025, examining digital tools and frameworks for communities in public space and museality.
