Esther Hammelburg presents Pubhubs paper at Algosoc International Conference 2025

Next week, Esther Hammelburg will be presenting the paper “Reimagining Digital Public Spaces: Co-creating Use Case Scenarios for Digital Infrastructure Grounded in Public Values“, at the AlgoSoc International Conference 2025, in Amsterdam.

This paper showcases research from the PubHubs project, an initiative that seeks to develop non-profit community networks grounded in public values, providing an alternative to commercial tech giants. Through co-creation workshops, interviews, and focus groups, this research explores how civic organizations envision and design their ideal digital public spaces—and what value tensions arise in the process.

This paper contributes not only to the UX design of PubHubs but also to the broader debate to the broader debate on public digital infrastructure.
