As part of her PhD research, CivicIxD researcher Tamara Pinos Cisneros has been investigating how to motivate children with cerebral palsy to continue doing their hand therapy at home. In collaboration with HvA, University of Utrecht, University of Twente and partners, Tamara has developed a therapeutic smart toy The Magic Monster. Together with Kayleigh Schoorl (UU), Tamara recently presented the “Magic Monster therapeutic smart toy” at the Dutch Design Week, as part of the Embassy of Health exhibition. In addition, together with Max Alberts (master student from TU/e), Tamara presented a poster at CHI Play in Bremen (Nov 2nd – 5th) and the paper has been published in the proceedings of the conference: “Designing a Smartphone Exergame for Children with Cerebral Palsy in the Home Environment”.
