Paper co-authored by Jaz Choi on Feral ‘Mapping’

We are thrilled to share a new paper co-authored by CivicIxD Associate Lector, Jaz Choi and esteemed colleagues Andrea Botero Cabrera, Markรฉta Dolejลกovรก, and Lachlan Sleight. The article, titled “๐— ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐˜€๐˜†, ๐—ฒ๐—ป๐˜๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ด๐—น๐—ฒ๐—ฑ, ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐—ฑ ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฒ๐˜€๐—ต๐—ถ๐—ณ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด: ๐—™๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—น ๐— ๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐—ฝ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด,” has been published in the International Journal of Cartography.

In this innovative study, the researchers introduce the โ€˜Feral Mapโ€™, an open online map that brings together different creative practices questioning the dominant extractive, technocentric rendering and legitimizing of particular algorithmic futures. This work pushes the boundaries of traditional mapping and offers fresh perspectives on how we understand and represent the world around us.
