As part of a visit from our lectorate to the University of Technology Sydney, Ben Schouten together with Kees Dorst have drafted a further cooperation between the two universities in the field of transdisciplinary innovation. Transdisciplinary research and teaching draws on multiple disciplines to provide the knowledge base to address complex problems in society.
A Memorandum of Understanding will now be signed in order to facilitate
- Special programmes for AUAS students and UTS students at two levels: 1) shorter intensive subjects (summer or winter schools) and 2) shared subjects for a longer period within the existing curricula. In order to support this,
- Exchange of academic staff, by establishing adjunct professorship(s) and student exchanges, to be established within 6 months. First exchanges should start from second half 2019.
- The development of educational modules and shared subjects to support education and research in transdisciplinary innovation; leading to
- Exchange of academic and professional knowledge to come to research models, governance structures and business models for transdisciplinary innovation and social impact.
- Joint supervision of research students and PhD candidates including the development of a professional doctorate;
- Collaboration in research and the promotion of research outputs, such as shared networks (industries) and global partners (China), mutual defined projects, cultural exchange and publications.
The two groups are particularly interested in the design for social innovation. Both groups have an extensive track record in this field:
