PubHubs is the name of a community network based on public values. It stands for Public Hubs and is an open and transparent community network platform that protects the data of its users.
The Civic Social Media project focuses on researching, designing, and advocating for digital platforms that enable community members to safely and securely communicate, collaborate, and exchange information. PubHubs is a great example of such a platform and it is making strides!
PubHubs aims to connect people through various Hubs—separate online spaces managed by different organizations such as museums, sports clubs, educational institutions, hospitals, municipalities, libraries, neighborhoods, or patient associations. In each Hub, a relevant aspect of your identity is engaged.
PubHubs prioritizes reliable information, using digital signatures where appropriate, and fosters trusted communication by ensuring the verifiable identity of all parties when needed. This means you can be certain who you’re interacting with—while still allowing identities to remain hidden when privacy is more appropriate. Find out in the video below why PubHubs could be interesting for your organisation.
The video is spoken in Dutch, you can turn on cc for English subtitles.
